Oscar Richardson -- a man known around Branson as Eugene Ward -- will be sentenced Monday on escape charges stemming from a Florida prison escape in 1979. Richardson, described by Taney County Sheriff Jimmie Russell as "a model citizen," lived in the Branson area for 26 years before being tracked down by local officials. He pleaded guilty to the escape charges in April. Richardson originally pleaded not guilty to the escape charges in Florida at his arraignment in February. His attorney, Christopher Smith, told the News-Leader in April it took some time for all the involved parties to agree on a sentencing recommendation. Read More. |
