NH Trooper Convicted Of Falsifying Records

A N.H. State Police enforcement officer from Meredith who was responsible for commercial vehicle inspections received a suspended jail sentence, paid a $260 fine, and must complete 20 hours of community service following his conviction in Concord District Court on charges of filing 15 fictitious inspection reports.

Attorney General Michael A. Delaney said Lawrence Fredette, 47, of Meredith had been charged with three counts of tampering with public records or information. He was convicted on all three counts and received a suspended, 90-day sentence to the Merrimack County Department of Corrections jail. Fredette paid $260 in restitution to the state and must perform 20 hours of community service in the next six months.

In a news release, the attorney general also said Fredette resigned from his position with Troop G in Concord, which handles all commercial vehicle enforcement. He also gave up his certification as a police officer.
