A mother and son are accused in an attempted armed robbery of a Jackson grocery store where the mother had worked under a year. Police said the crime on May 22, at McDade's Grocery, 904 E. Fortification St., was an inside job. "Her son was the one who carried out the robbery, and she apparently knew about it," Jackson Police Department Assistant Police Chief Lee Vance said. The robbery attempt happened around 6:45 a.m. as the store was opening. A man attacked the manager and demanded money, Vance said.
