| Woman Convicted Of Vehicular Homicide |

A Morganton woman received a prison sentence of almost four years this week in Burke County Superior Court for a 2008 vehicle accident that killed a woman and seriously injured a man. Aleisha Renee Pope, 25, was sentenced to a minimum of two years, five months and a maximum of three years, eight months in the North Carolina Department of Corrections and must under go a mental health evaluation. A jury found Pope guilty of felony death by vehicle, reckless driving and felony serious injury by vehicle. A Driving While Impaired charge was merged with the first charge.
