FAIRBANKS — The rustic cedar house near downtown Fairbanks with a picket fence, garden and delicate hand-carved doors wasn’t always endearing. For years, it was a party house with filthy floors and mattresses, a putrefied toilet and late-night gatherings with a dozen cars stopping by each night. “I’ve been in this house before on other terms,” said Michelle Blue, a recovering cocaine addict who moved in last week. “Using dope.” Today, it’s a sobriety house, part of the Oxford House network of privately owned homes for those recovering from drug or alcohol addiction.
