Law enforcement officials nabbed a Greenville woman on parole for burglary they say knocked on the doors of dozens of Madison County residents and stole money after making a plea for cash. Linda S. Towell, 45, of 831 Clarence, was charged Monday with three felony counts of theft under $300, Madison County Sheriff's Department Capt. Brad Wells said. Towell was arrested after a keen-eyed Alhambra resident recorded the license plate number on the vehicle driven by a woman who reportedly asked for money. The woman had said she had no money and needed to get back to Effingham after taking her mother to St. John's Hospital. That license plate information returned to Towell, Wells said. Read More. |
