SARATOGA SPRINGS — Meredith Lickwola’s three children have taken the first step toward suing Saratoga Springs, Saratoga County, the city Police Department and the county Sheriff’s Department for their mother’s alleged wrongful death in a city jail cell March 18. Sheriff’s deputies arrested Lickwola at her Schuylerville home at 1:42 a.m. March 18 after she called 911 to report a burglary. Responding officers determined there was an active warrant for her arrest and placed her in custody. The deputies then drove toward Saratoga Springs and at some point transferred Lickwola to the custody of a city police officer. City police found Meredith Lickwola unresponsive in a holding cell at 5:47 a.m. She was pronounced dead, the cause of which has not yet been determined, at Saratoga Hospital at 6:50 a.m. Read More. |
