A man serving four concurrent life sentences for the killing of his parents and two siblings 12 years ago might need to be sent to a higher-security prison, state prison warden Tim Schuetzle says. Michael Neugebauer, who shot and killed his family in 1992 on a farm near Menoken, N.D. was among five inmates who were planning an escape attempt at the state penitentiary this week, Schuetzle said. The prison was put in lock-down on last Tuesday when authorities discovered some bolt-cutters were missing. They eventually were recovered, and the prison break plot was discovered, Schuetzle said. He said Neugebauer is generally well-behaved but has tried escaping in the past. Authorities are considering filing charges against the inmates. Neugebauer, who was 15 years old at the time of the killings, fled with a girlfriend but was caught about two weeks later in Florida. |
