| Man To Withdraw '08 Guilty Plea |

Anthony Michael James Scott, the Longview man sentenced to 54 years in prison in March for fatally shooting his girlfriend's mother and wounding her father, has filed a motion to withdraw his guilty plea, saying he needs mental health treatment and that his attorney pressured him into accepting a deal with the prosecutor's office. In a motion filed in Cowlitz County Superior Court on June 9, Scott said he initially accepted the plea bargain because he believed he would get a lighter sentence. "I feel I was pressured by my lawyer to take a deal," Scott wrote in court documents. "After I was talked into taking this, I decided against it. My attorney told me it was too late." Scott said he accepted an Alford Plea — which means he didn't admit guilt, but acknowledged prosecutor's had enough evidence to convict him — because his attorney told him to.
