Solar Projects In OR Prisons

PORTLAND — Oregon prisons plan more solar projects under a mandate from the 2009 Oregon Legislature to use 1.5 percent of all new construction project budgets for solar energy.

But state Department of Corrections officials say that rolling out new projects has been slow due to a lack of extra staff to escort contractors while they work on prison property.
