PHILADELPHIA (AP) ― A Philadelphia corrections officer is dead after police say he was shot to death inside his home. Authorities say 36-year-old Lonnie Rowland was shot and killed late Sunday night in North Philadelphia. Rowland's grandmother says she was upstairs when she heard gunshots. She discovered her grandson in the doorway of the home they shared. He was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. According to officials, Rowland was in his prison uniform and preparing for his shift at the time he was killed. Read More. |
