A state Department of Corrections officer claims she was arrested "out of spite" last month when a Sheriff's deputy was called to her northeast Ocala home to handle a domestic dispute. Jennifer Cornelius, 28, was arrested in late May and charged with battery/domestic violence. Last week, the State Attorney's Office dropped the first-degree misdemeanor count. "The victim came in, gave a statement explaining his version of events, and asked the state to dismiss the case," said prosecutor Toby Hunt on Monday. His office, finding no evidence to move forward, complied. In an interview Monday, Cornelius said she initially called law enforcement to her home in order to prevent her fiance, who had been drinking at a party there, from getting behind the wheel of his vehicle.
