A minimum security inmate escaped from the High Rock Conservation Camp just outside of Weott on Monday morning and authorities continue to search for him. Markus Newsome, 23, reportedly escaped from the site at about 10:30 a.m. Monday. Additional California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation staff was being dispatched to the area, said Margaret Pieper, CDCR public information officer. ”Basically, he just ran from the camp,” she said, which has no armed post or reinforced wall because it is a minimum security site.
