A minimum-security inmate who escaped from High Rock Conservation Camp near Weott on Monday morning was apprehended that night. Markus Newsome, 23, escaped from the camp at about 10:30 a.m. Monday and was found at about 7:15 p.m. the same day. He was medically cleared and booked without incident in the Humboldt County jail, according to the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. The case will be referred to the Humboldt County District Attorney's Office for prosecution. Newsome was committed to the CDCR on Sept. 18, 2009, from Kings County for grand theft of property and has been housed at the camp since April. He was scheduled to be paroled in September.
