Chase Of Stolen Police Car Gets 13 Years

BERRYVILLE — A jury here Tuesday gave Nathan Brown, 22, a combined 13 years in prison for crimes linked to his stealing a police car and leading police on a high-speed chase from his mother’s trailer at Berryville into Boone County, where he wrecked the car.

After the wreck, officers said, he declared that he was facing eight felony warrants “and I just wanted to go out in a blaze of glory.” The jury never heard that because he made the statement before he was informed of his rights.

The jury reduced the most serious charge, attempted capital murder of a deputy who tried to stop him from leaving the trailer park, instead finding Brown guilty of aggravated assault and giving him one year, which will be served at the same time as the 13 years.
