SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The administration of Gov. Pat Quinn is in the process of beefing up a technical team located within the Illinois Department of Transportation so it can assist other departments – including helping the Department of Corrections keep track of current and former inmates. Christine Cegelis, assistant director of the Illinois Department of Central Management Services, told The State Journal-Register Monday that an information technology “center of excellence” is being crafted at IDOT. Three existing employees will be part of the team, and three more are likely to be hired, she said. “Transportation is going to do the development work, run the project, and then, once it’s up, Corrections will be able to lease back the usage of the software,” Cegelis said.
