| Cellmate Killer Will Not Be Transfered |

STUART — The trial of 30-year-old Ricky Silva for the October 2009 killing of his cellmate at Martin Correctional Institution has been tentatively set for January 2011. Silva appeared under heavy security Wednesday at the Martin County Courthouse for a status conference and to request that he be transferred from Florida State Prison in Starke to either the Martin County Jail or MCI in order to assist in his defense. Silva, who was serving a life sentence at MCI on several counts of robbery with a gun, carjacking with a deadly weapon and burglary of a dwelling, is accused of killing Terry Bell, 45, who was also serving a life sentence after being convicted of raping a young Marion County girl.
