SIDNEY – A Nevada sex-crime parolee was arrested in Sidney on Saturday by local authorities and U.S. Marshals after he was discovered in a stolen vehicle, court documents state. William L. Rezendes, 69, of Reno, Nev., faces a local charge of theft by retaining stolen moveable property, a Class III felony, for possessing the stolen Californian vehicle. A booking affidavit states the suspect informed authorities he switched plates with a rental car in California. Court documents state local authorities were contacted June 19 by U.S. Marshals who suspected Rezendes was in the area. Following contact, the Sidney Police Department was asked to meet the marshals at Wolf Automotive, where Rezendes had been apprehended with the vehicle. Read More. |
