SPRING LAKE TOWNSHIP -- Residents of a child-rich Spring Lake Township neighborhood are raising the alarm over their newest neighbor: a 63-year-old man paroled Wednesday after serving more than 12 years in prison for sexually molesting an 8-year-old girl he had met just days earlier. The neighbors are responding with yard signs, fliers, video cameras, group meetings and a neighborhood watch that may include phone calls, e-mail alerts and even whistle blasts whenever the parolee leaves his house. The neighborhood is the Boom Road-Bayou Drive-144th Avenue cul-de-sac along the north bank of the Grand River. It's a scenic area of comfortable homes and many families with children. Read More. |
