| Woman Sentenced In Crash That Killed Fetuses |

BENNINGTON -- A Bennington District Court judge said Wednesday he was attempting to balance the scales of justice by sentencing a 22-year-old Pownal woman to 30 months to 20 years in prison for causing a crash that killed the twin fetuses of another woman and severely injured the woman and her husband. A tearful Kelly M. Cook, who had been free on bail, waved goodbye to her family as she was immediately taken to the Marble Valley Correctional Facility following a sentencing hearing Wednesday afternoon that was filled with emotion on all sides. She will likely be transferred to a women's facility in Saint Albans within a day or two. Cook's leg shook throughoutthe hearing, and she cried intermittently, including during a briefelocution before receiving her sentencefrom Judge David Suntag. Read More. |
