Nixa -- An undercover Internet chat operation by the Nixa Police Department in April led to a felony sexual misconduct charge against a St. Louis-area man. Matthew M. Fancher, 21, of Barnhart was charged June 29 with sexual misconduct involving a child, a Class D felony, for allegedly masturbating in front a of a web camera for what he thought was a 13-year-old girl, Christian County Prosecutor Ron Cleek said. According to a probable cause statement filed with the charge, Nixa Police Sgt. Jeff Romero, a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children task force, was posing as a 13-year-old girl in a Yahoo chat room April 7 when he received a message from Fancher. Read More. |
