WEST CHESTER — An Upper Darby man who assaulted his pregnant girlfriend on New Year’s Day pleaded guilty to charges in the case last week that resulted in sentencing to a state prison term. But because of a new arrangement with the state Department of Corrections, Jason Lamar Johnson may be permitted to serve his time at Chester County Prison, a far less imposing environment. Johnson, 32, of Upper Darby, who had grown up in the Atglen area, pleaded guilty to a single count of aggravated assault and was sentenced as part of a plea agreement to two to four years in state prison. Prison terms whose minimum parole date is more than one year are normally supposed to be served in a state corrections institution. Read More. |
