CHINO – One-time Charles Manson follower Leslie Van Houten has lost her 17th bid for parole. She appeared at Tuesday’s parole hearing at the California Institute for Women and pleaded her case. Van Houten, 60, a one-time beauty queen, who earned a college degree and has been active in self-help prison groups, was deemed ‘unsuitable’ for parole. Department of Corrections spokesman Luis Patino said it will be 3-years before she is eligible for another hearing before the parole board. Read More. |
