| Teen Charges As Adult In Vehicular Homicide |

WAVERLY - The arraignment for Alexander Pothast, 17, a driver involved in a fatal car wreck, has been set for Aug. 2. On Friday, authorities also filed trial information officially charging Pothast, of Clarksville, as an adult with homicide by vehicle, a class B felony. The Bremer County Attorney's Office alleges Pothast unintentionally caused the death of Joshua Young, 18, of Waverly, by operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. Early on March 21, Pothast rolled a 1998 Pontiac Bonneville on 240th Street near Waverly, according to court documents. Young, a passenger, was killed. Pothast and another passenger, Cole Staudt, 16, of Shell Rock, were treated for injuries. Vehicular homicide is punishable by up to 25 years in prison. Read More. |
