DOUGLAS - A minimum security inmate from the Arizona State Prison Complex in Douglas escaped Thursday afternoon from a work crew at the Huachuca City Landfill. According to officials, Lonnie Smith left the work crew between 12:30 and 1 p.m. in a city-owned vehicle. The Arizona Department of Corrections has notified the state Department of Public Safety, Cochise County Sheriff's Office, Sierra Vista Police Department, the U.S. Border Patrol and it also has deployed tracking teams to find Smith.
