Probation Officer Defends Own Actions

TAMPA — A detailed time line released by the Department of Corrections on Tuesday shows that probation officer Pamyla Crompton responded hours late to a warning that something was wrong with convicted rapist Tommy Lee Sailor's ankle bracelet.

But in an exclusive interview Tuesday with the St. Petersburg Times, Crompton defended her actions and said she didn't receive the text messages until 4:54 a.m., which is why she didn't show up to Sailor's house until about 5:30 a.m., when police were already there.

Tampa police had been called to the home by a woman who says that Sailor raped her and threatened to kill her that night.
