LINCOLN, Ill. — State officials say a former Illinois priest convicted of sexual abuse is to be released from a prison in Lincoln this month. The Illinois Department of Corrections says 45-year-old Mark Campobello is to be released July 28 from the Logan Correctional Center. Campobello has been held on a technical parole violation for about a year. Campobello pleaded guilty in 2004 to sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in Geneva and to molesting a 15-year-old girl in Aurora. Campobello has been removed from the priesthood. The victims sued the Rockford Diocese, which settled the case for $2.2 million. Read More. |
