| Theif Gets 8 Years In Prison |

A Rifle man, who evaded police for five weeks after jumping out of a two-story apartment window last September will spend the next eight years in prison. Gearod Pinkerton, 34, was sentenced to eight years in the Colorado Department of Corrections in one 2010 case where he pleaded guilty to stealing two Toshiba laptop computers from the Glenwood Springs Wal-Mart. In all, Pinkerton was sentenced in five cases, two of which he received stricter penalties because he violated the terms of the original sentences in those cases, according to court documents. All sentences were to run concurrently with the felony theft case. Pinkerton also pleaded guilty to stealing three more laptop computers from the Wal-Mart in Rifle, and he also plead guilty to a bond violation, because he apparently committed the thefts while out on bond after being arrested in Sept. 2009, on several warrants including failure to appear.
