| Truck Used In Inmate Escape Found |

SIERRA VISTA — A truck belonging to the town of Huachuca City that was stolen by a Department of Corrections inmate during his escape has been recovered, the town clerk said. The Public Works Department pickup was found Tuesday afternoon off of Highway 82 near the county line between Santa Cruz and Pima counties by crews working for Tucson Electric Power, Ron Armstrong said. The truck was abandoned just off a dirt road heading into Pima County. The escapee, Lonnie Smith, tried to hide the truck, authorities said. “There is a battery operated saw in the truck, and he used that to cut boughs off of trees to cover the truck with,” Armstrong said.
