3 jailers injured breaking up fight

Three Campbell County (Ky.) deputy jailers suffered minor injuries Monday morning when they tried to break up a fight between two inmates in the Campbell County jail, which was holding 125 more inmates than its recommended capacity.
Jail officials transferred 27 inmates to other lock-ups Monday and plan to ship out more today.
"This is something that has been brewing for a number of years," Campbell County Jailer Greg Buckler said Monday night.
Buckler would not release the names of the three deputy jailers who were hurt, but he said two of them, who sustained a cut and a bruise, would be returning to work today. The third deputy jailer has a strained knee and will be off for a few weeks.
Buckler said an argument between two inmates started just after 8 a.m. in a cell occupied by 15 inmates but built to hold 12. The deputy jailers were injured while trying to restrain one of the inmates.
Charges are pending against the two inmates, whose names were not available Monday night, Buckler said. They were not injured.
Officials are investigating how the argument started.
