CONCORD, N.H. (AP) ― A number of inmates at the New Hampshire State Prison in Concord are on a hunger strike to protest what they feel is stifling heat inside the prison. But an official says the number of inmates refusing to eat dropped to four Friday from a high of about a dozen on Thursday. Department of Corrections spokesman Jeff Lyons tells the Concord Monitor the inmates have told prison staff they won't eat until fans are installed in their rooms or nearby hallways. Read More. |
