MILTON — A 39-year-old former Department of Corrections officer was convicted of sexual battery and lewd and lascivious molestation Wednesday. Byron Thorton was convicted on two counts of attempted sexual battery on a victim less than 12 years old, two counts of lewd and lascivious molestation in Escambia County and one count of lewd and lascivious molestation in Santa Rosa County, according to a press release from the State Attorney's Office. The offenses took palce between 2008 and 2009 in Santa Rosa County and Escambia County where he sexually abused his significant other's children. He was arrested Jan. 13. Read More. |
