LAKE CITY, Tenn. — .The state of Tennessee has set an execution date in November for a death row inmate originally from Lake City. Steven Michael West, 47, was convicted in 1987 of the kidnapping and stabbing death of Wanda Romines and her 15-year-old daughter, Sheila Romines, in Union County in 1986. West was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to death in the case, and has now completed the standard three-tier appeals process, according to information from the state Department of Corrections. The state filed a motion in April to set an execution date after West's appeal process ended. Read More. |
