| Guilty Verdict For Hit Man Hiring Officer |

A judge decided Wednesday that a former corrections officer at Salinas Valley State Prison was guilty of attempted premeditated murder, plus solicitation of murder, for trying to hire a hit man to kill an ex-girlfriend. After the ruling by Monterey Superior Court Judge Russell D. Scott, Timothy Rodriguez, 39, faces a term of seven years to life when he returns for sentencing July 27. According to testimony, Rodriguez paid $300 to an undercover officer, a man Rodriguez thought was a professional killer, to shoot the woman in front of her 3-year-old son.
