| New Juvenile Justice Director Appointed |

SPRINGFIELD -- Gov. Pat Quinn on Friday appointed a veteran of dealing with troubled children to run the state's youth detention centers. Arthur Bishop has worked at the Department of Children and Family Services for the last 15 years, most recently as a deputy director. Current director Kurt Friedenauer resigned as head of the Department of Juvenile Justice this week. Bishop, with his background in child services, is part of Quinn's hope to merge the Department of Juvenile Justice with DCFS, in hopes of getting youths in the prison system more rehab and treatment. Friedenauer has a background in the prison system and was appointed in 2004 by then-Gov. Rod Blagojevich. Read More. |
