| Suit Continues Against MO Prison |

HELENA - A hearing over the placement of an 18-year-old Montana State Prison inmate who is suing over what he considers deplorable treatment will continue Thursday in district court in Helena. Raistlen Katka is asking to stay at the Montana State Hospital, where he is currently being housed, or another mental health treatment facility until trial. The state is arguing against moving Katka, saying he was held in the prison's maximum-security unit to protect him and that prison mental health officials do not believe he suffers from a serious mental illness. The American Civil Liberties Union of Montana sued the state and Montana Department of Corrections on behalf of Katka in December 2009, claiming the teen had been held in solitary confinement for almost a year and that his treatment violates his constitutional rights.
