Richmond, Va. -- A home has been found for Tyrone Gray Conway, a disabled state prisoner who completed his 30-year sentence but could not be released until a facility could be found that would take him. Conway, 50, who uses a wheelchair and has diabetes and other health problems, was released by the state Monday, said Larry Traylor, spokesman for the Virginia Department of Corrections. In a story that appeared in the Richmond Times-Dispatch this month, while Conway was still in custody, officials said they had spent more than a year trying to find an acceptable placement for Conway so he could be released. The department also could not locate his family. Conway said he had lost touch with them and had not had a visit since 1991.
