| Man Accused Of 2nd Murder, Faces No Parole |

James Alvarado finds out July 30 when he will stand trial again for allegedly killing his wife. Alvarado, 43, of Streator was ordered held Wednesday on $1 million bond (the same amount set when he first was tried) while awaiting retrial for murder. Wednesday was his first appearance in La Salle County Circuit Court since an appeals court threw out his conviction for killing Angela Alvarado in 2006. He no longer is an inmate of the Illinois Department of Corrections. Alvarado, dressed in the orange-striped clothes issued to county inmates, applied for the services of the public defender. Judge H. Chris Ryan Jr. approved that request, reinstated the $1 million bond and ordered Alvarado returned for a July 30 hearing. Trial dates likely will be scheduled at that time. If convicted again of first-degree murder, Alvarado faces 20-60 years in prison with no possibility of probation. Angela Alvarado, 35, died from injuries sustained from a single gunshot wound sustained in the master bathroom of her Streator home on Oct. 10, 2006. Read More. |
