The number of Afghan men being housed at the Curtin Detention Centre in Western Australia has hit 460, despite the government saying last month it had the capacity for only 300. At the weekend nearly 150 Afghan males were transferred from Christmas Island to the reopened facility near the far north WA town of Derby. The Department of Immigration said on Saturday that 71 Afghan males were flown to the Curtin facility followed by another 70 on Sunday. Read More. |
