An Upper Peninsula prosecutor has cleared — in fact, commended — a Michigan corrections officer for the fatal shooting of Seth Privacky during a foiled prison break. Chippewa County Prosecutor Brian A. Peppler said Tuesday that his review of Privacky’s shooting found it to be justified, “and nothing further will come from this office. “In fact, I want to publicly commend the officer for putting himself in danger and handling himself professionally and as he was trained,” Peppler said. Privacky, convicted in what might be Muskegon County’s worst mass murder, was killed July 15 after he and two other convicted murderers overpowered and injured a semi-truck driver, hijacked the truck and drove it through the double fence of Kinross Correctional Facility, a medium-security prison near Sault Ste.
