Rolla, N.D. (AP) A corrections officer with the Rolette County Sheriff's Department believes he was unjustly fired because he is campaigning against his superior. Twenty-seven-year-old Brandon Mathiason was fired by Interim Sheriff Melvin Frank on July 21. Frank says Mathiason "wasn't working out." He did not offer specific examples. Mathiason says he did nothing wrong in his job duties that would merit termination. He believes he was fired because he's running against Frank for sheriff.
