Convicted murderer and sex offender Christopher Sayers will be taking up residence at 709 Carr St. starting Aug. 5. To prepare the community for his arrival, local law enforcement officials held an informational meeting at the Rhinelander National Guard Armory Tuesday. Approximately 40 people attended the session, which included a briefing on Sayers’ criminal history, the process that has led to his impending release from a treatment facility and the extraordinary level of surveillance he will be subject to after he returns to Rhinelander. Sayers, 53, was convicted in 1979 of killing Pearl Tichacek, 79, who lived near him on Dorr Avenue. He was accused of harassing Tichacek continually before strangling her during the course of a rape.
