| DOC Hasn't Followed Orders To Reinstate Suspended Employees |

The state Personnel Appeals Board has given the Department of Corrections 10 days to show why it hasn't followed a July 28 order that backed two suspended state prison guards, one of whom is the president of his union. The board had ordered Mark Jordan, president of Local 250 of the New England Police Benevolent Association, and Officer Jeffrey Bettez, be returned to their former positions or some alternative employment, or have their unpaid suspensions converted to paid suspensions. The board had also ordered that Bettez's and Jordan's insurance be reinstated and their suspensions without pay be terminated as of 45 days after they were suspended. But on Tuesday, the union filed a motion stating the Department of Corrections has not complied with the board's order and both men remain suspended without pay and benefits. Read More. |
