| Jail Improvals Given Financial Green Light |

YAKIMA, Wash. — A bond issue Yakima County commissioners authorized for sale Tuesday has grown from a previous estimate of $9.3 million and could get much bigger. County Treasurer Ilene Thomson said she has authority to decide whether enough costs savings can be achieved to fold in the $25 million that remain to be paid off from the original $33 million issue the county borrowed in 2002 to construct a county jail. With a list of other projects included, the bond could be $35 million. County commissioners are authorized to sell bonds without a vote of the people.
