COLUMBIA, S.C. -- The teen who pleaded guilty to killing his 8-year-old neighbor will be transferred from juvenile detention to adult prison later this week. Sam Young entered a guilty plea in May to involuntary manslaughter and criminal sexual conduct in the 2008 death of Dymia Woody. He was sentenced to 25 years in prison for each charge, to be served concurrently. Woody's body was found in a vacant mobile home in July 2008 after her mother had reported her missing the night before. The coroner’s office has said that Woody died from asphyxiation because of a breathing obstruction, and that there were visible signs of sexual assault on her body. Read More. |
