| Gov. Canidate Calls For AZ Prison Reform |

PHOENIX — Investigators hoping to track down an Arizona prison escapee and his fiancee hit a dead end Wednesday night. Authorities initially believed John McCluskey and his accomplice Casslyn Welch robbed a beauty salon in Gentry, Arkansas, but the sheriff of the town says "there's no reason" to believe that and now the scramble for answers is on. McCluskey and two other violent offenders, Tracy Province and Daniel Renwick, broke out of a medium security facility near Kingman on July 30th; an escape prompting Arizona Attorney General and gubernatorial candidate Terry Goddard to speak out. "We need a total examination of the security procedures in the private prison sector, which apparently has never been done before." Goddard is also taking aim at the current governor he hopes to replace. He believes Jan Brewer is too favorable to the use of privately-run prisons as a cost-cutting measure. Read More. |
