The man authorities dubbed the “Granddad Bandit” — arrested Wednesday in Baton Rouge and suspected of robbing at least 25 banks in 13 states since 2008 — is no stranger to the law. Michael Francis Mara, 52, had eluded authorities for almost two years, but hadn’t been so lucky in the past. The alleged bank robber has a rap sheet that dates back to at least 1981, according to information provided by Larry Traylor, director of communications for the Virginia Department of Corrections.
