| Sex Offender Bill Has Support Of Gov. |

Gov. John Lynch is defending his stance on sex offenders and online predators, but a potential opponent in the upcoming November general election says he would never have passed a bill that allows some sex offenders a chance at early parole. Lynch campaign manager Pamela Walsh said message testing calls being made by the campaign for Republican candidate John Stephen are misleading. At the core of the controversy is a bill Lynch signed in June, Senate Bill 500, which makes early parole possible for many prisoners, including those who committed lesser sex offenses, including a second or subsequent offense within a five-year period for indecent exposure and lewdness. SB500 does not apply to people convicted of misdemeanor crimes and serving sentences in county jail. Read More. |
