| Registered Sex Offender Commits Rape |

WAUSAU (WAOW) -- James Begay, 21, remains in the Marathon County jail on a Department of Corrections hold. Begay is in custody for allegedly raping a woman right outside her home. Raped right in front of her own home on the city's Westside. The victim outside around 4 o'clock Wednesday morning to let out her dog. Sitting on her front step, she was attacked, threatened, and brutally raped. Deputy Chief Bryan Hilts says,"He did use force, he did cause her injuries. It was forceful sexual assault and that's why it's being charged as first degree sexual assault because of the level of violence involved." The suspect is 21-year-old James Begay.
