One Republican lawmaker says there are still unanswered questions about the Department of Corrections early release program. State Rep. Jim Durkin (R-Western Springs) is sitting on a panel put together by Republicans to get answers about what went wrong when some 1,700 inmates were released early or served no time at all. Durkin says a report released Friday by a judge and two aides, who were asked to look into the "MGT Push" program by Gov. Pat Quinn, still doesn't explain who's at fault. He believes the director of corrections should resign. Quinn's chief of staff puts some of the blame on old and failing technology, such as decades old computers. Durkin says that's ridiculous.
